As a working mother, I thought I could handle everything at once.

I was working long hours and looking after my twins. On top of that, I felt so much pressure to go back to my pre-baby body (eye roll) and be healthier. I truly believed something was wrong with me. I was hitting the gym every day at 6 am, doing intermittent fasting, detoxing, dieting and I still had no energy, I felt exhausted, I was grumpy with my kids and husband, and wasn’t happy with the way I looked.

Inevitably, I had a massive burnout

My body had had enough. I started having panic attacks. I became so tired that I physically couldn’t get out of bed. My psoriasis was flaring up in ways it never had before, my PMS was through the roof and it felt like everything was collapsing around me. Doctors ran basic blood tests and repeatedly would say there was nothing wrong with me.

I decided to take charge.

Following the fad diets and workouts was not for me. Researching further, I discovered that my situation was not about me, per se, but about everything women are taught to be the right for them! We are bombarded with patriarchal diet culture and lifestyles that simply do not work for us. Mainly because most of health and diets studies are made by men — for example, did you know that the keto diet and intermittent fasting were never studied in pre-menopause women? No wonder why I was feeling like sh!t all the time.

After treating my body as a female body — paying attention to my infradian rhythm, respecting my cycle, biohacking my hormones, nourishing my body instead of restricting it, resting, and prioritising self-care  — I can truly say that I have more energy, more focus, I’m so much more patient and connected to my family and I can finally say I feel great about my body.

It’s my mission to debunk patriarchal diet and lifestyle culture, helping women to reconnect with their female body and embrace their feminine energy.
